Science is who we are, where we come from and what happens next. But how science established itself as the way for us to understand existence and to take control of our destiny is an integral, and often overlooked part of our nation’s story. In a new three-part series for BBC Two, Professor Brian Cox introduces Britain’s science heroes, taking us to the places they made their discoveries, recreating their experiments and examining the legacy left to their scientific descendants. He will find that the British tradition of innovation and discovery owes everything to the early pioneers and how the business of discovery and innovation is a process of creative inspiration, collaboration and true grit – an endeavour in which Britain has consistently set the pace. Professor Cox begins this intimate portrait of British science with a face to face encounter with Isaac Newton’s death mask. Starting with Newton, Brian investigates the personality of scientists, showing how their greatest achievement is the scientific method – removing personal bias in interest from discovery. He meets one of the few remaining people who worked on the wartime British nuclear bomb programme, whilst discovering the way in which the acquisition of knowledge can sometimes be at odds with public morality. Finally Brian meets the current president of the Royal Society, Professor Sir Paul Nurse, who reveals a new approach to the business of discovery in what he believes will be the most successful British biomedical research initiative ever – the Crick Institute, currently under construction in London’s King’s Cross.

    BBC 英国蓝调音乐发展史 - 纪录片

    2009英国纪录片
    演员:奈格尔·派纳
BBC纪录片 Documentary telling the story of what happened to blues music on its journey from the southern states of America to the heart of British pop and rock culture, providing an in-depth look at what this music really meant to a generation of kids desperate for an antidote to their experiences of living in post-war suburban Britain. Narrated by Nigel Planer and structured in three parts, the first, Born Under a Bad Sign, focuses on the arrival of American blues in Britain in the late 50s and the first performances here by such legends as Muddy Waters, Sonnie Terry and Brownie McGhee. Part two, Sittin' on Top of the World, charts the birth of the first British blues boom in the early 60s, spearheaded by the Rolling Stones and groups such as the Yardbirds, Manfred Mann, the Animals and the Pretty Things. The final section, Crossroads, looks at the next, more hardcore British blues boom of the mid-to-late 60s, with guitarists Eric Clapton and Peter Green and the international dominance of their respective bands, Cream and Fleetwood Mac. Featuring archive performances and interviews with Keith Richards, Paul Jones, Chris Dreja, Bill Wyman, Phil May, John Mayall, Jack Bruce, Mick Fleetwood, Ian Anderson, Tony McPhee, Mike Vernon, Tom McGuinness, Mick Abrahams, Dick Taylor, Val Wilmer, Chris Barber, Pete Brown, Bob Brunning, Dave Kelly and Phil Ryan.

    BBC纪录片:英国流行音乐史 - 纪录片

    2005英国纪录片
Episode 1: Love Me Do New series investigating the music revolution of the past 40 years, and its links to the British fascination with sex and gender. The first programme looks at the 1960s, when the popularity of groups like the Beatles and pop icons such as Cilla Black, Marianne Faithfull and Sandi Shaw went hand in hand with a new generation of assertive fans. The decade also saw the rise of camp in the form of Brian Jones and Mick Jagger. Episode 2: Oh You Pretty Things Exploring the glam rock sound of the 1970s, when pioneers Marc Bolan and David Bowie made make-up on men fashionable. Led Zeppelin's heavy rock with its macho image upset the burgeoning feminist movement, while punk and disco's origins also fell within the decade. With contributions by Siouxsie Sioux, Germaine Greer, Malcolm McLaren and Robin Gibb. Episode 3: Tainted Love The musical and sexual preferences of the flamboyant 1980s, when New Romantic bands, including the Human League, Spandau Ballet, Culture Club and Duran Duran, conquered the charts. Awareness of Aids began to grow, and by the end of the decade the nation's concept of masculinity had been eroded, with girls gaining the upper hand. Episode 4: Wannabe: The 90s The changing attitudes of the 1990s, when Manchester became the centre of the pop music universe and young people began shedding their inhibitions. With contributions by Norman Cook, Melanie Chisholm, Shirley Manson, Richard Fairbrass, Germaine Greer and Melanie Brown.

    BBC 古巴 - 纪录片

    2012英国纪录片
    导演:Tom McCarthy
    演员:西蒙·里夫
Adventurer and journalist Simon Reeve heads to Cuba to find a communist country in the middle of a capitalist revolution. Two years ago Cuba announced the most sweeping and radical economic reforms the country has seen in decades. From ending state rationing to cutting one million public-sector jobs, one of the last communist bastions in the world has begun rolling back the state on an unprecedented scale. Simon Reeve meets ordinary Cubans whose lives are being transformed, from the owners of fledgling businesses to the newly rich estate agents selling properties worth up to 750,000 pounds. In this hour-long documentary for the BBC's award-winning This World strand, Simon gets under the skin of a colourful and vibrant country famous for its hospitality and humour and asks if this new economic openness could lead to political liberalisation in a totalitarian country with a poor human rights record. Will Cuba be able to maintain the positive aspects of its long isolation under socialism - low crime, top-notch education and one of the best health systems in the world - while embracing what certainly looks like capitalism? Is this the last chance to see Cuba before it becomes just like any other country?
